If you see the external monitor is responding normally, try to install the graphic driver from the official site of ASUS.

By this, we will be sure that the display is normal on the external monitor. Once you are connected with the external monitor, all you need to do is press the function key (hotkey) so that you can toggle the displays of the laptop and external monitor.

If the display isn't responding connect your laptop with an external monitor.
